The view from inside into the garden

One of the most important aspects for me when designing a garden is the view from inside to outside. After all, we spend most of our time during the day and throughout the year indoors, rather than in the garden itself.
As it has been proven that simply looking out onto greenery boosts our sense of well-being and reduces stress levels, it is well worth taking care to design the views from the house thoughtfully.
This photo shows my studio garden. In the three months since it was planted, it has already grown so lush that the view is completely immersed in greenery. A cosy and peaceful atmosphere is created by the vertical greenery of hedges and climbing plants, as well as by the trees, which lend depth and provide privacy, particularly in small gardens. The gentle trickle of running water adds another dimension to the garden – both in terms of its relaxing effect and visually.
The beauty of it is that all this is possible in almost any outdoor space – whether a large garden, a small city garden (as shown here), an office courtyard or a balcony – provided the planting, design elements and sightlines are adapted accordingly.
