When I opened my studio in 2008, I launched my online shop with hand-drawn cards. It was a counterpoint to mass-produced goods and increasingly digital communication. And also because I personally loved beautiful cards. After several articles about my cards (including one in Landlust magazine), demand increased so much that I eventually had to stop accepting orders, as each card is individually hand-drawn by me, and that takes time.
After several years without completely hand-drawn cards, I'm releasing a small edition of new seasonal boxes for Christmas. Twelve cards with delicate, minimalist designs – a journey through the seasons. From daisies to rosehip wreaths to Christmas trees.
I first sketch each motif in pencil, then with a very fine ink pen, and finally color it with watercolor. Many of the motifs also have small gold accents made from gold watercolor paint.
The 12 cards are packaged in a beautiful box covered with gold-patterned, handmade Nepalese paper, which has a unique feel – almost like fabric. The box is also handmade by paper artist and designer Susanne Ziems from Pforzheim, who lovingly crafts each box individually in her workshop with meticulous attention to detail.
I will continue to offer the box in the new year, but I will only be able to produce a small number each month. Therefore, please allow approximately 14-21 days for your box to be ready. However, a few boxes are already available for the Christmas season.
