Handmade salt or pepper mills - hand-turned in a Bremen woodworking shop using regional woods.
Beautifully shaped, simple and natural – these are the salt and pepper mills, each individually handcrafted by Bremen wood artist Hergen Böttcher. He uses only regional woods from Bremen and the surrounding area.
These mills are not only practical, but also eye-catching. They work well in the kitchen and equally as a decorative element on the table.
They have a high-quality ceramic grinding mechanism and are filled via the removable lid. They are universally usable for both salt and pepper.
The small mill is approximately 10 cm high (without the silver knob), the large mill approximately 15 cm.
The coasters shown in the picture can be ordered separately – however, they are currently sold out. If you are interested, please contact us to inquire about their availability.
Each mill is a handcrafted, unique piece.
Pepper or salt mill made from local oak - hand-turned
The ceramic grinder can be used to grind both salt and pepper.
The grind setting is adjusted via the upper silver knob.
Wide gap (between upper and lower mill parts) = coarsely ground
Narrow joint = fine grind
No joint = mill is closed
To fill, unscrew the knob completely. The maximum fill level is only up to just below the spring. When replacing the head, the grains in the mill should not be compressed. They should still rattle when shaken with the head screwed on, so that they fall loosely into the grinding mechanism.
Please always use slightly open and filled with salt/pepper, as the teeth of the grinder will jam together without filling.
When using as a salt mill, please ensure that the location is dry. Near the stove or windowsill, the salt can absorb more moisture from the air and then lead to corrosion of the metal parts.
